I want a strapless bra that ACTUALLY SUPPORTS, cost be d****d! :-(
Even the kind with the elastic on the top and bottom don't really work (though they fail less than the others, especially the elasticized ones that are also under wires).
seriously, I wore a strapless... contraption, it was like a bodysuit with bra cups, to my prom 13 years ago, and I spent most of the night in the ladies' room, holding the sides and jumping up and down to fit and settle them back in. I was a 36DD then and now I am a 40H, and I cringe at the thought of trying to build something like that in physics class back then.
VS is good if you're a 36DD, perhaps a 38DD, or smaller. If you're above that, ESPECIALLY if you're fat, they are rude and dismissive of you in their stores.
Yeah, VS has the attitude that if you're bigger than a D, just go up band sizes until your boobs fit the cups. Which eliminates all support. As someone much bigger than that, I did find a Fantasie strapless that actually supports pretty well. It had better, for $85. It separates a bit much, but most strapless dresses like to push things inward, so it balanced out well.
haha, me too. I am a 40H or sometimes a 42F, I usually buy Le Mystere bras on ebay. It depends on the bra and the manufacturer though, I have bras ranging from 38DDD to 42H that fit me, it's weird. Stupid big boobs, I seriously hate them.
Whoa lol I'm a 38D, sometimes 36D. Sometimes I wish they were bigger, but for the most part I love them; 38D on a 38-32-38 body isn't too shabby :) I prefer padded, push-up, underwire bras that look fairly cute and are sturdy.
The problem is that I find a good bra, wear it out and then by the time I go back to get more, they don't sell them anymore.
Well if your bra size is 38D, your bust measurement is 42. The difference between your underbust (ribcage) and the fullest part of your breasts, in inches, is your cup size. For every inch, it's a cup- for example, a woman who measured her underbust at 36 inches and the fullest part or her breasts at 38 inches, would generally be a 36B. Bust at 40 inches would be 36D, and so on.
My underbust is 40 inches, and at the fullest part of my breasts I am 48 inches. This makes me a 40H.
Go to Nordstrom's, get fitted, it will change your life, I swear.
Seconding Nordstroms. I'm a 36G in what they put on me that worked. Go there, get measured, try things on, maybe buy one... then find them cheaper online. Figleaves.com is a pretty good source.
Well, $2.50 in 1938 dollars is equivalent to about $38 in 2009 dollars. And looking around, I see Maidenform longline bras generally running $32 to $34 these days at department stores. I suppose the only thing that's surprising is that the offshoring of labor that's taken place hasn't resulted in a price reduction.
