This 1954 movie encapsulates the Korean War: William Holden's fighter pilot character is unhappy about being called up for Korea after serving in World War II. He'd been making headway in his civilian life like a lot of returned G.I.s and now was yanked back to fight in a war that wasn't exactly popular. What if his good luck was all used up in the last war? The prime real-life example was the Boston Red Sox' Ted Williams, who was called up for Korea after three years' service in World War II. Five prime years of his baseball career was lost to war.

Excellent jet fighter sequences and color photography with top-notch acting by Holden, Grace Kelly and Mickey Rooney.

This is my first time embedding something from Youtube, so sorry if I messed anything up! :)

Veterans of the Korean War in general and of this battle in particular said this 1959 movie was very accurate in its depiction of fighting in Korea. My father said that to me when we watched this film years ago. He served in Company B, 32nd Infantry.

Friday - Saturday May 13-15 Bad luck in ads, horror movies, and first aid!!

Tomorrow's Friday the 13th is the ONLY one this year!! In honor of that, bad luck depicted in ads. Anything depicted in an ad that you know isn't going to end well; ads that show something bad that already happened and how their product/service can fix it (ie: Maytag repair man); black cats (yes stereotype, but it fits the Friday the 13th theme); etc As always WIDE interpretation!! We'll carry the theme throughout the weekend.

Also for Friday the 13th (and the whole weekend), horror movie trailers and ads!!

And finally, ads for first aid products. Band-aids, antibiotic ointment, bactine, etc. Anything that'll help patch ya up!

The Woman in Red poster

This was—apparently—the 80s remake of The Woman in Red, although I thought Gilda Radner was in it.

If you'll remember, Oct. 21, 2015 was the date in the future when Doc Brown and Marty McFly were to have arrived from 1985.

Well, what have we got to show for it?

Where is my flying car?

Where is my cheap fusion power?

Where is my hoverb-oh, wait, we have hoverboards now, nvm

Where are my self-lacing sneakers?

Did someone post this already and I missed it? This was the first cult movie I ever saw, in 1980.

Oh, and with a soundtrack by Cat Stevens (now Yusuf Islam.)

This movie popped into my head - I watched it years ago. It's about some Italian soldiers that become stranded on a Greek island during WW2. My dad grew up on a small island during WW2 and I appreciated the movie for that alone. It's more funny than serious, IIRC.
