Congrats to noluck_boston for winning our House contest!



TOMORROW is a One Day Event!! SPRING!! Someone suggested we do trees--such as Spring Trees in ads on the first day of Spring, Summer trees on the first day of summer, etc so yes, Spring Trees, BUT to not limit ourselves so much, let's expand it to ads basically for SPRING!!!

Friday thru Sunday is our Weekend Event(s), two this weekend! Unbelievable dialogue in ads AND Double Entendres in ads!! This should be fun!! :)

And, per votes, next month's contest will be CLEANING PRODUCTS and in May BOOZE---that contest is starting on Cinco de Mayo, so that's very appropriate!

And as chosen by y'all, May's contest theme shall be UNDERGARMENTS! Now, in case you didn't see my reply to a couple of inquiries about separating men and women's underwear ads into two consecutive contests (which would have been fine by me), I'll explain it thus. We can't have separate men and women's underwear contest categories because there are ads that have both men and women in them, whole family underwear ads, etc. And if we just separated men and women underwear ads, we'd have to exclude the mixed sex ads and I don't think that is fair. I don't have a problem with running two contests consecutively; but this would leave out ads, cause confusion, etc.

Many thanks to spuzzlightyear for throwing me a birthday party today. A little levity today is probably needed.

Please denote one day events will probably be added to this list, this is just the basic: contest and weekend events for now. While I had the 'hat' off the window sill I figured I'd just pull out weekend events for June too since June's contest theme was already decided!

May's Contest: UNDERGARMENTS (let's just say UNDERWEAR!) Starting Wednesday May 1st!!

May's Weekend Events (Fridays thru Sundays unless otherwise noted)

May 3 - May 5 PEACE: I did not 'select' this out of the 'hat'. I knew it was in the weekend event baggy and purposely picked it out for this weekend (all other weekend selections, except for holiday weekends, ARE selected at random) because of May 4th. Since I live in Akron, attended Kent State, lived in Kent, etc and consider May 4th rather significant in history, I felt PEACE was a good theme for this weekend. (And if anyone in the area is going to be at Kent State on May 4th please let me know so we can meet up!)

May 10-12 WHITE: Ads featuring the color white

May 17-19 X: Ads featuring the letter X

May 24 - MONDAY 27 BBQ: It's Memorial Day Weekend and the unofficial kick off to BBQ season!!

May 31- June 2 1930s: Ads from the 1930s

June's Contest: Weddings Starting Monday June 3rd This would be any kind of ad related to weddings!

June 7- 9 1990-1993: This would be our 1990s 'decade', though we don't go past 1993, so uh, yeah, just a few years in this 'decade'.

June 14 - 16 Orange: Ads featuring the color orange!

June 21-23 #4: Ads featuring the #4!

June 28-30 Classified Ads: Yep, classified ads!

Any ideas for one day events, weekend events, etc are ALWAYS welcome!!!

OOPS!!! i've been a bad mod!! i will go sit in a corner for a 'time out'!! i forgot to timely post our contest winner!!!! have had some things going on in my hood and helping an elderly neighbor who's getting harassed by a dangerous neighbor, then i've been enjoying being able to sit in front of my house (haven't been able to do that for years) and catch some rays and read books (very selfish, but very good for the soul and my tan :) .....
