i could never figure out why they had an aligator mascot....i do wish twist tie baggies were common nowadays cuz i'll be damned if i can really succeed at those seal ones----yeah, i'm pretty inept....but if your hands are wet, or you've put something in the baggy that's moist, you can't really seal 'em shut without drying the seal....and GAH!!! give me a damn twist tie!!!

They were called "alligator bags" because of the texture of the bags; they were originally a smooth plastic bag and when they changed texture, they called "alligator." (I remember this; might have been the early 70s.)

I always hated the GLAD bags with the "fold-lock top" and that was what my mother usually bought because they were usually cheaper: she was a coupon-clipper.

i liked the folding bags for sandwiches! i don't know why, but i've been missing them a lot lately, thinking i should see if i can't find a box for the pantry. (I reuse my sandwich baggies until they're gross :P it's just peanut butter...not even any jam)
