I wouldn't say the first woman isn't smiling. To me she looks like she has an evil grin on her face, like someone's about to get murdered.

Aha! Now I know what casket woman is club president of! The village serial killer and amateur undertaker society! But she just thought they were there to gather and talk about hats or something.
