I wanted one of these, but whenever I asked for one, I was told, "there's the oven. Go bake something." Now, I'm glad I was encouraged to learn how to cook for real and my parents were really cool for allowing me to experiment in the kitchen and create some disasters now and then, but I still really wanted one of these. I heard the cakes didn't taste that good, though. I had some friends who had these, but they never used them whenever I would visit. Maybe there was a reason for that.

These were OK and were great if your parents didn't let you use a real oven. But your parents were better for letting you use their oven.

I had one of these and all I remember are the very tiny cakes and a very hot light bulb.

My spoiled cousin had one of these. Teeny, tiny cakes warmed by a 40-watt lightbulb in a princess pink box. Funnily enough, Creepy Crawlers operated on the same principle, and I’m pretty sure it was the exact same toy, given a “gross” makeover to appeal to boys. You were probably better off using the real oven, frankly. A few years later, my sister and said cousin invaded the kitchen at family get-togethers, making Betty Crocker Stir & Frost Cakes. These cakes were barely much bigger than the Easy Bake treats, always made smaller by my sister and cousin taking “snapshots” of the batter during the stirring phase.

Yeah, my mother refused to get me a Suzy Homemaker oven, but got me both Creepy Crawlers™ and Fun Flowers™. In the long run, I think it was a good trade-off.

I always wanted one of these, too, and I always got the same answer! I did sample some of the little cakes from a friend's oven, and they really weren't very good.

My parents bought us the Betty Crocker Children's cookbook which was full of all kinds of great recipes! My older sister was especially good at making the candies and cookies.

I did get one of these, it is one of my favorite Christmas memories. I got to use the real oven too.

Funny thing is, I would love a real oven as a present now.
