It's Kentucky Bourbon, therefore it has to be a Colonel. That's a real title, which is awarded by the Governor of Kentucky. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kentucky_colonel

the ad is abhorrent, though I have to say I love the bottle.You'd think we live in times better than this, but then suddenly Paula Deen happens.

I'd love to have that bottle! And it's been a major surprise recently to see such blatant racism in ads in the 1950's.
