Three Month Event Calendar

vintageadsUh, because it was the weekend I don't do anything besides cross stitch or work out in the yard it seems and I'm actually sick--some sort of virus? so I can't work out in the yard so all I can do is cross stitch and go stir crazy(ier), I got the 'hat' down from the window sill and pulled out weekend events and set our calendar for the next three months. One day events can ALWAYS be added and actually I'd appreciate more ideas for weekend and one day events!! Contest themes for the next three months were voted on by y'all. We need more weekend event ideas please!!!
Weekend Events are always Friday thru Sunday unless otherwise denoted!
For the last two weeks of June (so I guess this is the next 3 1/2 month calendar! ;)
June 21-23 #4: Ads featuring the #4!
June 28-30 Classified Ads: Yep, classified ads!
July
One Day Event, Monday, July 1st, Canada Day: Ads featuring Canada, Canadian Products and/or Canadians
One Day Event, Thursday, July 4th, Patriotic USA Ads: Um, I hope self explanatory?
Weekend Event 5-7 Jungle Animals (Keep in mind, in the 'hat' we also have marine animals and farm animals, so this is strictly jungle animals in ads)
Contest Starts Monday July 8th Living Rooms: Ads for anything to do with living rooms, including things you use in the living room and do!
Weekend Event 12-14 Stripes: Ads that contain a striped pattern in them
Gay Equality Day*, Monday, July 15th (I think that's the day we'll have it in July, will post with definite date the week before, but for now this seems okay as I have nothing planned--do I ever? and can be home on troll patrol)
Weekend Event 19-21 Gardens: Ads featuring gardens and/or for gardening supplies, etc
Weekend Event 26-28 Letter E: Ads featuring the letter E
August
Contest Starts Thursday August 1 Regrettable Food (NO JELLO): Yes, ads with regrettable looking foods---with NO JELLO, which means no jello AT ALL in the ad
Weekend Event 2-4: #7, yep ads featuring the number 7
Weekend Event 9-11 Movie Posters: Uh, movie posters!
Somewhere mid-month, Gay Equality Day
Weekend Event 16-18 Ads from the 1950s: Print or video!
Weekend Event 23-25 Yellow: Ads featuring the color yellow
Weekend Event for Labor Day Weekend August 30- September 1 Ads featuring workers: Ads that have peoples working in 'em

One day event Monday September 2nd: Movie Trailer Day, Movies that feature working peoples. IE: 9 to 5, Norma Rae, etc.
Contest Starts Tuesday September 3 Cartoon Ads: Ads that are mostly cartoon!
Weekend Event 6-8 Red: Ads featuring the color red
Weekend Event13-15 Letter N: Ads featuring the letter N

Weekend Event 20-22 Cake & Ice Cream: Yep, cake and ice cream in ads!
Weekend Event27-29 Local commercials and ads: Those fun whacky low production value local commercials and ads!
October
Weekend Event 4-6 TIME: Ads with clocks, ads that denote the time. TIME!
One day event Monday October 7th: It's Putin's birthday! Therefore we shall 'boob day'! Ads with BOOBS!! Interpret that as you will (remember NSFW ads must go behind a cut)
Weekend Event 11-13: If we survive Putin's birthday, it's LIFESAVER weekend!! Ads featuring life savers! Yes, the candy life savers! There are dozens of their ads; but if you wish to include other types of life savers, please do!!
* Gay Equality Day note: I think this is important to have once a month with the ever increasing laws against gays in Russia (and LJ is owned by a Russian company and the site goes down when there are huge protests). Not to mention that world wide gays are persecuted and even killed for just being who they are. Even in the states, as with the recent hate crime murder of a gay man in NYC. This isn't political, this is a human right's issue. And I hope I continue to be the only one (well I know one other member who was targeted, though not directly) who is harassed about this. I am on troll patrol, there is zero tolerance for intolerance (though the Russians pointed out I wasn't allowing free speech, but hate speech is NOT free speech as far as I am concerned) and if any member is harassed or threatened, please let me know! I have a friend who also can translate Russian--much better than google translate! :) If you are a regular, you can contact me for my phone number even. I want everyone to feel 'safe' here!
Oh and one other note, I got a complaint that I only seem to defend gay people. That's not true. I once defended a Christian who was attacked for zero reason here because it was Easter time (this was years ago) and they had an icon with Jesus on a cross and someone attacked them for that. It was horrible and WRONG. I would defend anyone being attacked here regardless of faith, color, sex, etc. Most of the problems we have here though are, unfortunately, homophobic in nature. Which further buttresses my rationale for gay equality day!

Date: 2013-06-18 02:02 am (UTC)I've been away from here for awhile so this is the first time I've seen the Putin sucks tag. Did you hear he stole the Patriots' coach's Super Bowl ring? The Russians deny it, of course. Putin said he could kill a guy with that ring and he probably has. What a creep! Though I gotta think Coach Kraft was kind of an idiot for letting him hold it in the first place!
Let's see, weekend events. How about one having anything to do with fertility: pregnancy, pregnancy tests, birth control, quack remedies to improve or halt fertility, etc. Have we done anything like that? Or, maybe we can have a "guess the TV show or movie" weekend. For example, someone could post an ad showing someone getting arrested and another one promoting a new housing development: Arrested Development. I dunno. Just brainstorming. :)

Oooooo I like that idea!!! We've done nothing re: birth control/fertility!!! I like the guess the tv show/movie idea too---that would take some work, but should be easy enough!! Thank you! :)

Or ads for homes/home building that feature front elevations of houses or house plans?
Or vintage ads that play on cross-gender role humor (guys doing typical girl things or vice versa)?
Or clothing ads for items no longer worn today (spats, bustles, corsets, etc.)?
Or for Labor Day, ads featuring occupations that are associated with unions (teachers, police, firefighters, truckers, musicians, mine workers, etc.)
Or old celebrity endorsements of products that today now seem ill-advised?

gender roles might be confusing? depending on personal beliefs, cultures, etc though i know exactly what you mean...
i like that! ---clothes no longer worn.....what would be a creative name for that though? hmmmm......will put 'clothes no longer worn' in hat with 'get better name if possible'!
i figured labor day ads featuring workers might cover those....same with movie day on labor day featuring workers....peoples can interpret workers to mean those groups you named!
we have had a theme of celebs---that's always popular....and we've have a theme in the hat about ill advised products, never combined the two though....can you think of any examples off hand?
