Too much color? NEVER!

1986 ads from Texas Monthly

This one is in black-and-white, but you know the colors are probably garish. Still, I want to see the sweater on left in color!

1986 ads from Texas Monthly 2

Either this poor kid is really constipated or he knows he's going to get beaten up if he wears that to school. Thanks, Mom!

that's because the hat/bandana combo looks so damn stupid.

its a dress-up-for-the-rodeo shirt. dont laugh, we DO. *thinks* yeah, or to church, too. my parents attended "the cowboy church" for a while. (there's a "biker church" in their town, too. something for everyone!)

I definitely remember that Dillard's ad; it was all over Seventeen and other magazines for that age group. And I was exactly the right age to want those clothes. Fortunately for me, my mother was horrified by the prices and would have nothing to do with it.

Whenever I see an ad from the 80s, something inside me hurts ... just a little.

The one thing I don't miss about the 80's-the fashion!

I used to work at Marshall Field's in Chicago. Met my wife there. Just thought I'd mention it.

I miss Field's. Now they're all Macy's stores and the prices seem even higher.

There are some things which I refuse to refer to by their new names: Loyola University's Lewis Towers (now called the Water Tower campus), The Sears Tower (now the Willis Tower), and Marshall Field's. "Macy's" means nothing to a person from Chicago.

So who brought the Festivus pole?

those two girls in the second ad would not be friends; their outfits totally clash.
