The tub in an apartment had those when I first rented it. I don't know how long they had been there (since the 1970s is not impossible). They were still there, absolutely unaffected by time, when I moved out 16 years later.

Since I never take baths, only showers, I rather liked having them.

I begged my mother to put some of these in our bathtub when I was a little kid! She complained that they would leave adhesive marks if we ever took them up, but she did eventually stick some down. Blue ones, in a very 1980s rust, beige, and green bathroom.

Hated those damn things as a kid. You couldn't freely scoot around in your bath and the edges always trapped gunk. And there was always that one petal that came unstuck.
