Bohn absolutlely nailed "Our Glorious World of Tomorrow" in a series of ads collected at Retronaut, HERE.

My favorite, the neighborhood monorail:

That's beautiful! I still wish we had monorails everywhere. :-)

Vancouver sort of has them with their Skytrain. It's two rails but you don't see them as they're on guided tracks. The view out the window is amazing. It's all controlled by computers without drivers. You fly above the cars stuck in traffic and get places fast.
The only advantage to monorails is that the track part is half the cost to build. At least in theory. They have other problems though.

That's a really cool ad. While I do like monorails, I'm not sure about that one. Having a giant girder support thingy in the front yard is bad enough, but imagine the noise of a propeller driven monorail going by your house.

Suuure... tell that to Brockway, Ogdenville and North Haverbrook (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEZjzsnPhnw)!

MTE! The Simpsons ruined the word "monorail" for me forever.

I'd feel nervous driving under that monorail. The worry-wart in me would be worried a cable would break, causing something heavy to fall on my car.
