I love how at the end when the song is talking about "someday I'll be like you" (paraphrased) it zooms in on the bride doll. BECAUSE OF COURSE.

If it survives Mom's cleaning frenzy; that's why all the stuff that remains is so valuable. Also, the plastic—particularly the soft plastic—tends to deteriorate if not stored properly. And the vinyl cases often split.

$3.00! I wish the dolls and her clothes/accessories were still that affordable. Everything is so pricy, nowadays.

Actually, modern toys are significantly cheaper. Considering inflation, $3.00 in 1959 is a bit over $20.00 now, but you can get a basic Barbie doll for less than $8.00 at ToysRUs.

When I was growing up in the 1960s, most girls had two or three dolls at most and then changed clothes and accessories. Now kids get a new doll for every theme and outfit.
