This stuff sounded so good - peanut butter WITH CHOCOLATE (and vanilla, cinnamon, and banana flavors too).

IT WAS NOT GOOD.  D:

Koogle, 1971 or so

I remember the ads for this but I never knew anyone who actually liked it.

using terms like "tastes like peanut" or "peanutty!" makes it sound kinda fake.

Also, something about that commercial creeps me out. For that I genuinely thank you, I usually remain undisturbed by these things.

I think the additional ingredients preclude it being called peanut butter, because there is a federal standard of identity for peanut butter (http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/cdrh/cfdocs/cfcfr/CFRSearch.cfm?fr=164.150&SearchTerm=peanut%20butter). (This is the same thing that defines what can be called processed cheese food product, etc.)

Peanut butter, serious business lol. That must be why they call some soups "chicken flavored" soup or broth, when there's clearly stilll some chicken fat in the ingredients (much to the dismay of vegetarian nut jobs like myself ;)

It seems like if you had a clever name that was fun to say, like "koogle" (why "koogle" anyway?) a clever package (bigger mouthed jar with a snap lid to more resemble a can of peanuts) and a catchy jingle, you could stay in business for awhile!

I have no doubt this stuff was horrible. I think most food products targeted at kids during this era were complete crap, by design. And thinking about it, I'll bet pet food was even worse.

It sounds like the German word "kugel" meaning "ball". There's also a dish called kugel.

Pet food still is—even the "premium" stuff. Read Food Pets Die For: Shocking Facts About Pet Food (http://www.amazon.com/Food-Pets-Die-For-Shocking/dp/0939165562)

I don't think I've heard of or tasted Koogle before. You're right, it does sound like it should taste good... well, the peanut butter and cinnamon flavor doesn't, but the others sound good.

I put cinnamon on peanut butter--it's good. I got the idea from Koogle.

I may try putting a little cinnamon on peanut butter, at some point. I'm curious, now, to see what it tastes like. :)

Planters makes a peanut butter now with bits of granola, raisins, and cinnamon. It's surprisingly yummy.

I think Jif makes some peanut and chocolate blended stuff, I'm a separatist when it comes to that sort of thing so I've not tried it.

You would think Kraft would be able to use that middle ad to sue Google for copyright infringement. They apparently cornered the market on fake words ending in "-oogle" a long time ago. I wonder if Larry and Sergey ever ate this stuff. I think I vaguely remember this stuff and bugging my parents to get it, but I don't remember if I ever actually tried it.

There's something weird about that mom. "Krafty nutty surprise" doesn't sound very reassuring, either.

Google is an English word for a number with 100 zeroes. They wouldn't have a claim.

I think I'm more scared of the woman in that ad than I am the product. Which is saying something, since that crap looks and sounds god awful.

I might have went for the vanilla peanut butter, and yes for the chocolate also. I have seen chocolate peanut butter (I don't remember who makes it, but I don't think it's Jif) in the store recently.

And no matter how many times they say it or sing it in the ad, I'm hearing

"Koogle, the crappy nutty suprise"
