The announce on the first clip (which in fact was the second clip, chronologically) was William St. James, who you can currently hear as the voice of the Showtime Networks and also was the voice over person for all of NBC's Olympic coverage.
It's interesting how they went from a kind of schlocky style of advertising during that era to the more staid and health based concepts of the 80s. And the Yankees logo is for the fact that even though the Dodgers won the National League, the Yanks took home the Crown in 1978.
But, really, if this stuff wasn't bacon, what was it?
At first it was made with pork shoulder, and later there was a beef variety. I'm not sure if it was certified Kosher, but my parents would buy it once in a while as a special treat.
