Our September theme of KITTEHS (yes, spelled just like) starts TOMORROW (Sunday, September 2)....

Contest Rules

1. You must put at least 'contest' in the subject line....i don't count votes for any entry that doesn't have at least contest in the subject line....

2. All vintage ads rule apply, except only one ad per entry....

3. Video or print ads are fine....

4. VOTING: is via a YES in the comments, i cannot accept anything but a YES in the comments....and i finally made a video to explain this as i still encountered people having problems voting.....

5. Of course regular ads are accepted during our contest!

6. My hem and haw rule.....i always think there's another rule, at one time there might have been, but i have forgotten and now i post this thinking whilst i type it will magically come back to me....never does.....now this is just tradition here.....

7. HAVE FUN!!!!!

IDEA REQUEST

We still need weekend theme ideas!!! We have one for local tv station promos, which is an excellent one. Need more!!!

QUERY

Do we need a 'nekkid kid' tag? I have no idea where it came from....it was recently used---quite a appropriately on a very charming ad....but uh, should we have such a tag? I am really unsure how i feel about such a tag, so instead of just removing it, i thought i would query y'all first.....

Yeah, keep the nekkid kid; that's too funny to get rid of.

the latest Hemo posting has me wondering... have we ever done a theme or contest just on terrible product names?

also I think the nekkid kid tag is kinda funny, but I suppose it wouldn't bother me too much if it went away

Considering Strikethrough and all the related fails of our LJ overlords, I'd get rid of the tag.

Weekend Theme: Hmmmm, how about Autumn? It's so hot and muggy down South, still, that I'm panting after the change of seasons like an overheated sled dog. I also liked the Bad Name idea someone mentioned above.

As for the Nekkid Kid tag - anyone looking through this comm can tell we're not a group of pervs (where children are concerned anyway) so I doubt LJ will jump on us. Can you elaborate on your own reservations?

I love the local TV promo idea! You could also do promos for a certain genre of TV shows or something (would those count as ads?).

I'm not sure it's real popular, but how about an "arts and crafts" theme?

I second the autumn theme idea!

Other ideas:

- candy

- scifi type ads (or retro futurism!)

- decade themes, like a weekend devoted to ads from the 1950s or 1980s or whatever

- appliances

- WWII ads (like 'buy war bonds' and rationing ads)

- sports
