vintageadsSaturday September 1st: Icon Request!! Yes, a 'new' thing for us! I will make a post for 'icon requests' and in that post ONLY on Saturday and for the next few days will you will be able to make requests for icons to be made from vintage ads. We'll see how this weeks. We might have to tweak things. Post a link to a post you'd like an icon from and hopefully we'll have some generous minded icon makers who'll make some! :) Icon Post Day is the 15th.
Starting Sunday September 2nd, our Contest--KITTEHS!!! I'll post the rules on Saturday!
Weekend Event! September 14th-16th BACON!!! Ads with bacon, obviously!
September 15th Icon Post day!! Yes, you will be allowed to post icons w/o an ad (the icons MUST be made from vintage ads though), though if you wanted to include the ad you made icons from that would be fine. This is one day a month and this is the first time so we'll see how it goes and if we have to tweak it or not.
Weekend Event! September 21st-23rd NOW & THEN! This is where we will post an old (vintage) ad from a company that would be consider totally unacceptable in this age and then post a current (yes, a recent ad, and yes it must be behind a cut--yes really an ad after 1992, hence behind a cut and one of the few reason i'll allow amnesty) one for the same company that emphasizes the company's commitment to diversity. As we know, some companies have come a LONG way, it should be interesting to see that in posts!
Weekend Event! September 28th to 30th WHERE ARE THEY NOW? You know those ads where you can order stuff that give street addresses? Yeah, those ads. You don't have to do the legwork, just denote the theme in the subject and i know one of us vintage ads mystery sleuths will fire up the magic ball (google maps) and see what is there now! :) some people even live in cities where some of these places where...so here's a heads up, if you wanna find an ad in your city and then go take some pix of the local location (i might do that myself)....and yes, we can even look up the current phone # too, i know we've done that with some ads.....
October 31st ADS IN DISGUISE A total one day amnesty where we can post fake ads. Ads you have made, ads you have found and yes, even old looking ads for new products.
Future Contest Themes & Weekend Themes I will pull a few ideas from the 'hat' (which is really a dixie stampede cup) in a few weeks and we'll vote! And Weekend Theme ideas?????? NEED MORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
