vintageadsStarting TOMORROW!!!!! (fuck it, start now, close enough to midnight) Weekend Event, August 10-12: Vintage Ads AFTER DARK!!! yes, totally NSFW ads and yes you will have to use a cut.... but we'll be encouraging these ads all weekend---cuts will be in force!!! remember, cuts are for nudity....someone asked re: suggestiveness....i am unsure about that....let's just the 'work' rule, if you think you could look at it at work with no one raising a ruckus then it doesn't need a cut (uh, if you work at American Apparel, a XXX store, etc then obviously this doesn't wouldn't apply, pretend you work somewhere else)....PLEASE use common sense and courtesy! and NSFW stuff NOT placed behind an ad is the ONLY time a commenter can request a cut without contacting me first....

Weekend Event, August 24-26: Road Trip!!! Post multiple ads for your ideal road trip in your post! example: type of vehicle, where you would go, where you'd stay, where you'd eat, etc!!!
September Contest Theme: Kittehs!!!! (I'll post start date later)
New Things for Vintage Ads!
1. For October 31, Ads in Disguise. ONE DAY ONLY where we will allow fake ads to be posted. Fakes that you have made, fakes ads that you have found. I know we do not allow fake ads; but like I said, one day only. A member brilliantly suggested calling it 'ads in disguise' and having it on halloween! Yes, it could be fake ads for new items---like those old looking ads for twitter. ONE DAY ONLY.
2. 'Where are they now'----Ads where you can order items---we would look up the addresses/phone #s and see what is there now, etc...the poster would NOT have to do the legwork if they did not want too, they could post an ad for an item for sale during the period we do this (i think this would be a weekend event) and commenters could look up the info....this came about from the 'time to fuck' watch ad, the phone # was looked up....i also know on some prior ads we have looked up addresses....with google maps we can even get street views and it is sometimes really fascinating to see what is at a location now....some people even live in the cities where the businesses were and have stated a willingness to go take pictures (of course they wouldn't have too, but that would be awesome!).....[date to be determined, obviously after August]
3. Open posts---i'll post an ad of some kind put 'open post' in the subject and then in the comments we can talk about whatever we want....we are always free to go off topic in comments, but sometimes people don't like to do that (i can understand that) or sometimes people just want to vent, etc.....
4. VINTAGE ADS ICONS...this is how it's gonna work....on the 1st of EVERY month, i will make a post 'ICON REQUESTS' (i'll even make a tag for that! :) on that post only you can request, if you wish, icons to be made from certain ads---we have many talented icon makers in our group....link to the ad, etc....only in that post in the comments....on the 15th of every month (ides of the month) we will have ICON DAY....now some people were concerned about massive icon posts, but do you think? just one day a month....let's see it how goes and we can always adjust things, but on the 15th, if you have made icons from vintage ads, you may post them as an entry WITHOUT an ad (yes, an exception)....we were going to do one post for icons, but that'd be a mess.....[starting September 1]
5. Then & Now weekend event....yeah, i'm still gonna keep the copy/paste of what was originally suggested as they say it best: "...what if we had a "then" and "now" theme? What made me think of it was that Hardee's ad from the 70s that reminded me that some Hardee's ads are still suggestive today. Or maybe someone could post compare-and-contrast ads. For example, someone could post a vintage ad that's considered racist today and then post an ad for the same company that emphasizes the company's commitment to diversity. Again, I think that should only be a theme as that would be way to difficult to manage as a contest. Maybe the "now" ads could be put under a cut so as not to offend the purists! ;)" NOT a contest---due to having a NEW ad (yes that would also allow a now vintage ad---though under a cut...so a weekend event....[date to be determined though obviously after August]
6. Bacon----weekend theme, i mean, i'm sure we could have a week of a bacon, but really? nah, let's have a weekend of bacon....[date to be determined though obviously after August]...
