70s tampon ads vs cigarette ads

Hey vintage ads lovers, I thought I would just toss this out there. See one of
deborahkla's entries reminded me about this article I read a long time ago about the similarities between tampon advertising and cigarette advertising in the 1970s. Of course, I can't find it now, but maybe you'll keep the idea in mind! IIRC, both product advertising informed the other. How DO you convince women to smoke? How do you convince women to use tampons? By having a fun time apparently! The article had side by side ads.
The cigarette ads that come mostly to mind are Newports and Virginia Slims. Does anyone recall reading that article? I can find plenty of articles on either subject, but not together.
Here's a side by side to show you what I was thinking of.
