Courtesy of the MTA Transit Museum. If you are in, near or visiting NYC, it's well worth a visit. Right now, the Grand Central annex has a free exhibit of vintage London Underground posters. And the main location of the museum in Brooklyn has a station full of historic subway cars that you can walk through, all of which have ads from their era.

I have been remodeling my house, built in 1953 and found this in one of the walls...




Then I went looking for a time frame. Looks like that can has been in the wall since the 50s.
