Frederick's has been around at least since the 60s.
Back in the 70s, a bunch of us goils used to sit around the lunch table and read my friend Letitia's Frederick's catalog that she brought to school. The Christmas catalog had "Jingle Balls," and I remember there were items that had "Tear-away tabs…to make pleasin' easy!"
We called ourselves the "Fred's Girls," because we otherwise didn't fit into any clique in school—and just as well.
