I like how "(Or her.)" is in parentheses, like they put it in as an afterthought. "Oh, wait, girls might want to use this thing too, I guess."

(and yes I realise they had QWERTY keyboards waaaay before that ad was made, I was being sarcastic of course)

I resemble that remark.

I'll have you know, I type 52 wpm - 26 per forefinger.

- I amaze people - they've seen typists, and they've seen hunt-and-peck 'cop typing,' but they've never seen the two combined. It's just practice, years of it: This is how I type.

By the bye, did you know that you can spell out TYPEWRITER using only the top row of keys on a QWERTY keyboard? Coincidence...?

She's working towards a MRS degree.

Hey, she has to work on her typing skills so she can land a good secretarial job!

That (or her) seems kind of oddly placed to me. It almost seems like it's saying that "..motivate him do her" is also a possibility.

They were shockingly loud. The smaller case meant less mass to absorb sound, so the electric motor hummed clear across the room and each key hit like a pistol shot. If you went back in time or had one here, you'd find earplugs to be genuinely useful.

Yeah, they were quite loud. My mom had one, and it had a particular smell. Some combination of the motor and the ink...

Good times.

That looks like an incredibly uncomfortable way to sit and type. Your arms would get all cramped up and you'd get a print of the handle of the carry-case in your bum.

I love Smith-Corona. I have a gorgeous SCM manual with pretty similar styling to the electrics here, and sometimes I lug it down to the cafe to write just for the weird looks (it also can help if I'm getting trapped in a self-editing death spiral, since it sort of forces linearity).
