What is wrong with those damned kids?
Jan. 8th, 2006 04:12 pmWhen I first started collecting these things around six years ago or so, I wanted to try to get everything that Richard Bakalyan was in since I'd read the article in 'Incredibly Strange Films' and although I can't figure out how I recognized him, I did and it must have been from movies on television and the Disney type stuff he did. He is the 'face' of juvenile delinquency films for sure. Anyway, it was like a little goal of mine and although he's never really featured on the poster artwork I did do a good job and now these posters tend to be more desirable and/or valuable so it was a good time to score, I suppose. The 50s are famous in the movie poster world as the great era of sci-fi artwork and while this is true, some of us (me) prefer to see it as the great age of juvenile delinquency and the birth of American International Pictures and films being marketed towards youth. The artwork is just as outstanding for these pieces as some of the sci-fi ones we've been seeing here lately. It also seems, from these posters, that it's mainly girls that are the problem!
Here he is on the far right side of the poster.
