Wow! Kinda the precursors to bell bottoms, I guess. I had no idea wide legged pants were popular back then.

I do wonder what the adjustable side straps are for. Are they to adjust the waist or to hitch up the legs somewhat.

Oh, and I guess wearing your pants up under your ribcage was fashionable with the kids back then.

Wouldn't they have had to wear gowns as well?

'Under your ribcage' is actually where your waist is. People just stopped paying attention when 'hip huggers' became fashionable. Trousers no longer to up to the waist. Ever. Not even formal ones. No one wears them there anymore--it's sad, really.

Wot? You think you can't wear something because it was originally intended for guys? Screw that! I'd wear them anyways

No, I mean that I love them and would use them, but a contemporary man probably wouldn't. (Or, he would truly have guts to wear them on public. )

I do! I do I do! Style knows no age. I would look good in them, so I'd wear them. I really, really hate how horrible modern cuts of trouser make me look. Ugh. It's impossible to tuck in your shirt and look tidy when the trousers only go up to your hip bones!

For everyday trousers (rather than nice vintage ones) Cotton Traders make the only jeans etc which will actually reach my rather high waist. Plus they last.

Ooo, thank you so much for the recommendation; I shall have to look about on their website. I too have a high waist/long torso, so finding trousers is a constant struggle. Plus, US fashion favours the tapered leg or 'skinny' jean, and neither mesh with my love of flared and straight-legged trousers.

Nifty! Hot! Yowzah! But it's hard to imagine those guys as "the youth of today" when they all look like somebody's dad.

Mm-mm, look at those pretty boys and their slim li'l waists! Delicious! Why can't boys dress like this nowadays? Hell, why can't people understand the difference between 'waist' and 'hips' anymore? It makes tiny fops cry. ;-;

I want trousers like this!
