They still make La Mode buttons! Damn, I'm kind of sad that I know that. We used to sell them at the fabric counter at Wal-Mart when I worked there, and I think they stock them at Jo-Ann Fabrics, too. Not as nice as these, though. Everything was probably slightly better quality in those days.

hee a woman's sword- well I guess it takes them a bit longer to discover what the cause of death was (death a million needles!!) than a sword cut.

Yes! A needle is a woman's sword! A very tiny, pointy-at-the-end instead of sharp-on-the-edges, not very intimidating sword! To her embroidery, she is as a Viking on the fields of Asgard.
