Sept 1942 Better Homes and Gardens ad for Swan soap. There's so much to love in this ad, from the drunk goose to the racy top of the stocking on "Mom." Ooh la la!
ETA: polyfrog points out that it's probably not a goose, it's a swan. Yeah, I'm an idiot.
The fact that the ad includes talking dishes and clothes as well as a family that happily does what a psychotic swan tells them to do does tend to imply the artist was definitely on something.
At first glance I thought the dishes were doughnuts. Why would doughnuts need washing? What makes it even funnier is the fact that they are talking about Swan getting the grease right off them.

Not to mention that bar of soap is incredibly huge!

Date: 2008-10-18 04:50 am (UTC)ETA: It looks like Swan has a radio program, if you see the "Tune In" note - yay, soap operas!
Also, it reminds me of Dove, but I don't think I'd use my Dove bar soap for cleaning my tea mugs :/
