1943 Maytag washer ad
Oct. 1st, 2008 08:52 amOctober 1943 Better Homes and Gardens. Because of the war, Maytag isn't making washing machines right now, but they don't want to be forgotten.
The "all sizes" button on flickr will bring up a view you can actually read. Up until now I've just been folding my sheets once over the line. Apparently I've been doing it wrong!

Date: 2008-10-02 11:24 pm (UTC)Solomon Grundy,
Born on a Monday,
Christened on Tuesday,
Married on Wednesday,
Took ill on Thursday,
Grew worse on Friday,
Died on Saturday,
Buried on Sunday.
That was the end of
Solomon Grundy.
And like the poster above me said, Monday was traditionally wash day, so it does make some sense. Tuesday was ironing, Wednesday sewing, Thursday shopping, Friday cleaning, Saturday baking, Sunday resting. That's why all the food ads are in your Wednesday paper!
