I believe the De Dion Bouton was one of the makes that participated in the great New York to Paris race, which I read about in grade school. Naturally, I've forgotten all but a few scattered details -- Thomas Flyer won (I think), and the hard-luck Zuest came in maybe fourth, and then burned up while it was being displayed afterward. We just moved to Pittsford, NY, and I found out soon after that the racers passed through our town. Woo!
