This ad is inextricably linked with reading comics when I was a wee young'n. I scanned this ad from one of my favorites which is a Whitman comic of Scooby Doo "The Ghost of Redbeard". I could've scanned it from any of the comics from this time though as it's in every single one.

Oh, Billy, and just think of all the groovy gear you could put into your out of sight handbag!

God, the art in that ad is hideous.

The art looks like Dan DeCarlo had a stroke.

The first line of this neatly encapsulates what I've always thought about this ad. Just think how much lighter my collection would be if I could make all but one of these go away!

(Speaking of light, here's my scanner tip: put a black sheet of paper behind the original, and the back of the page doesn't bleed through as much. I got my black paper by running a photocopier with the top up -- repeat for the second side -- then I laminated it. Because I had all the stuff to do that with at work. Black construction paper might do the job.)

I like how Margie's face is melting in frame #3. Oh, and how the mailman is commenting on all of Margie's packages, when he's clearly looking right up her buttskirt.

The presentation of poor Margie in this strip reminds me so much of Faces of Meth.

'Buttskirt' nuthin' - unless the art is misleadingly bad, that dress has serious sideshow going on.

Dang. Talk about 'the Girl in Her Summer Dress…'

Wow. Someone really wanted to emulate DeCarlo and failed.

So, In frame 3, Margie says they can all order from her catalogue, but in frame 6, Billy has to get his own. He's being punished for being skeptical? Or is it because he's got his hands all over her in the last frame?

Perhaps she's just creeped out because Billy appears to be wearing his sister's clothes in the first frame.
