Ok, the kids are universally scary, most of them looking like the corn field even spit them out.

But god, that vision of life when you put all of them together... so carefree, so stylish, so together, (so white)... it seems like current commercials are so much about what an overwhelmed loser slob you are who needs the next helper to keep up.

these are great images and ads, but many of them aren't ads---or if they were, the product they're advertising isn't shown. so please make sure it's the complete ad.

i know there is not limits, but for our dial up friends, i think a post with lesser images would be better for everyone. there is no limit on how many posts you can make a day!

Some of them look like stock images that could have been used for promotion of non-specific products or services. Anyway, great post!

I think several of them came from ads for the packaging. That is, they aren't trying to sell the food to consumers, they're trying to sell plastic film to the people trying to sell food to consumers.

Don't let it bother you, MOST of the members here appreciated the post, its content, and the fact that you DID consolidate it all into one entry instead of several needlessly separate entries. Me (and my LJ friends page) appreciates both the content and effort here.

Best post this community has seen in ages.

you are forgetting people who have dialup....this is a huge post, i'm surprised it even was in LJ limit size restriction...i have high speed internet and as i type this, the pix are STILL downloading...

i did enjoy a lot of the images in this post, as i said in my comment...

1. Considering many pictures that were not attached to an add that have been allowed to be posted here in the past, you've long since opened the door for allowing tangible ad like material to be posted. I also believe that 99% of those "not ad" images were somehow related to advertising or the lifestyle of consumerism related to adverts - I could make an argument for any picture you wish to cite as somehow not appropriate. My suggestion, if you really feel this is and issue confer with your fellow moderators and establish a clear definition of whether you'll allow it or not, otherwise I think you're being unnecessarily persnickety.

2. You can put my vote clearly in the category of people who would definitely, 1000% for sure, no question about it, NOT want to see a dozen posts from the same person in one day. LJ limits a person to 1000 entries going back on their FL - if I don't read for a couple of days, as it the case more often than not on the weekends, I can easily go past 1000 back entries on my FL (e.g. this post falls almost 500 entries back already on my FL) and then I need to start resorting to filters (on for comms, on for journals, one for feeds) and back tracking to see it all since the last time I read. Regardless of even the technical limitations, I DO NOT appreciate stuff that can be consolidated into one post taking up multiple entries and cluttering my friends list.

1. i do not feel i'm being persnickety; if there is a non-ad post i address it as i see fit...there was one recently where it was just a link to an outside source, i sent them a note and then deleted the post.

2. i was not suggesting that someone post a dozen times. but if someone did every once and awhile i wouldn't have a problem with it. i cannot imagine going back more than 3 pages on my FL! i never knew you could go back 1000!

it's been a discussion before re: large post and individual smaller posts...some prefer a lot in one post and others prefer a few small posts....it's an individual preference and is up to the posters discretion....

That was almost poetic.

I'm so glad 7-up likes me too... I was starting to get insecure about the mutuality of our relationship.

Also, nice to see Spaghetti Demon Kid and Bean Demon Kid for the first time in a while (does anyone still have the anigif of SDK with the second head coming out, a la Alien?)

WTF IS WITH THE COFFEE CUP GESTURE????

Are you supposed to hold a coffee cup like that when you're telling people the coffee's ready?

That messed with my head.

Also, BEST POST EVAR!

It's an ad for Maxwell House coffee, replicating the "Good to the last drop" picture of the draining cup on their package.

These are all from Plan 59, which has much better documentation.

ah back when people could look like normal people in ads rather than too perfect robot-nicks. Of course most of these are illustrations but still.
