When I went to an ENT doc in the late 1970's and very early 80's, he used to pack my raging sinuses with a 7% solution of cocaine. It took the swelling down in about 15 minutes and left me with some pep in my step for at least an hour afterward. I kinda miss those days, especially since that's about the only thing that's worked for me.
