No such thing as seat belts either. When I was a kid we sat on the car floor in the back part of the station wagon and survived.

My mom used to have us sit in the back of the station wagon when the roads were icy and she needed weight back there.

When I was a kid and the family would go to the drive-in, I would end up sleeping in the back window while my two older brothers would fight over the back seat. My dad would drive home with me still in the window. And I can remember when I was about four standing up in the front seat between my mom and dad while we were driving. *g*

i was born in the mid eightes, bu i can still recall riding in the front seat, my mom was driving. we were both wearing our seatbelts, but my mom flung out her arm at a hard stop so i crashed into her arm instead of hitting my head on the dashboard. she's done the arm-brace thing for as long as i can remember. even now as a kind of grown-up she does it, lol.

what's very silly is that i actually do this when i have passengers. when i have to make a quick, hard stop; out goes my right arm, trying to protect whoever's riding with me.

ah, i'm such a dork^.^

yay! i do that too! it's nice to know that i'm not totally crazy for doing that, lol^.^

it's an interesting habit that's disappearing in our 'modern' society. its kinda a good thing, i think sometimes. hooray for safer seat belts!

Yes! I'm 25 and to this day my mom still does the arm thing to me! I call it the Mom Seatbelt.

Aha! My mom does that too!

But then she warned me that this is when a guy may take the opportunity to cop a feel.
