My first impression of the first ad was that the woman is washing her hair, but that makes no sense when it's an ad for lipstick. Then I kinda assumed that she's supposed to be sleeping.

Inverted noggin reminds me, a little, of the face that becomes similarly oriented after the opening section of Busby Berkeley's "Lullaby of Broadway" number from "Gold Diggers of 1935". Like the ad (did Bus see it?), the number is dream themed.
