Wow. $8,500 a YEAR. It's really mind boggling to think that was anyone's annual salary. *sigh* Back when gas was so cheap you could bathe in it...*laugh*

In a lot of places in rural America, it still is. Of course, not for a TV technician.

I used to have a really old version of the board game of LIFE and the doctor's income was $10,000. If only money went so far these days....

Ha!

Also the walls, the furniture, the upholstery, the woman's hair...

I haven't seen that much beige since a NY Times article on a guy who supposedly couldn't get a date because Mr. Edgy had a stuffed seal in his living room. The entire rest of his room was beige.

i like how the TV is in the corner like an after thought...nowadays it'd be the MAIN focus of the room...those shells and that desk would be gone and a big honkin flat screen would be there!

Especially as Mike's JOB is in TV - you'd think he'd have the set in a prominent spot so he could tell everyone when one of his shows is on.
I kind of love the Sasanoffs and hope they had/are still having a long, happy life together.

The big rattan chair must be Mrs. Sasanoff's "youthful" touch in this traditional room. In a few years, she will discover macramé.

The late 1960s are coming, Mr. and Mrs. Sasanoff. Your chair is the harbinger of much social change. Be ready.

I am certain that they made ends meet by renting out that chair to the Miss Universe pageant every year.
