How about a theme? Two ads that look vaguely similar, maybe?

Crimplene, c. 1973-75

Kraftwerk promotional still, Die Mensch Maschine-era, c. 1978

(Note: Crimplene ad shamelessly stolen from lj catalog_finds (thx spuzzlightyear))

That man on the left! His head is being devoured by a flattened squirrel! Quick! Quick! Bring a blunt object!

I was thinking he looked like Victor Quartermaine (http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1069324544/tt0312004) from Curse of the Were-Rabbit :)

Ach! So fahshionable, yah!

...and, wow, Florian (I assume that's what the neon says) has one large forehead. Actually, most of them do. What's up with that?

That's Kraftwerk, right?

Dude, it looks really shitty when the color of the tie matches the shirt! Even worse, it's made from the same fabric in the case of guy 2 and 4! >.<;

Kraftwerk, and their identical dummies.

A whole book can be written about those things. Kraftwerk do all sorts of shit with them. I remember hearing a story once, that the band once granted an interview with some industry paper....But instead of being interviewed in person, they set up the dummies in chairs around a table with their answers laid out infront of them already typed up for when the interviewer arrived. The guys left the building and had lunch.

I (heart) Kraftwerk! :)

The crimplene ad has so many possible conversations, all hysterical. as I see it blue and peach are happily discussing all their *creative* uses for drapery fabrics and how now not only do their shirts and ties match but also their walls, chairs, couches, curtains and anything that can be upholstered. when they walk in their homes they become totally camouflaged. Green shirt though I think is telling pretty boy that he is pretty sure the Maude line of wigs and scarfs are indeed not unisex and only meant to be worn by women. Pretty boy is scoffing at such a suggestion.

My contribution:

#3 says to #1: "Man, these other two guys look ridiculous, don't they?"

MAN! I fondly recall dancing robot-like in the basement of my best friend, wearing a black motorcycle helmet with the visor down (to add to the mystery), whilst listening to Kraftwerk's Radioactivity... thanks for the mem'ries!

Man, in that era, EVERYTHING was robot-dance worthy! Yeah, I recall the song Radio Activity was the THEE one. I bit slow and plodding, but it made for some dramatic slow robotic dance moves, like a move-and-pause motion, if you will. I'm sure we got goofy with the other ones, as my friend's brother was heavy into K.W.
