Women's Day June 1966....

clever way to advertise milk containers? aside from the raisins and the name of it (i watched too much beavis & butthead), it sounds sort of good....though i smell the sour old milk that that container would smell like...

Couldn't you do the same thing in a loaf pan?

The milk containers have that coating inside of them so all you have to do is peel it off. It probably would stick like crazy to a loaf pan, and the things you would normally do to make apan non-stick (sprays, butter, etc) would leave an aftertaste on the candy. :(

Line the pan with wax paper. Shove the nutlog stuff in there and later, just lift it all out and peel off the paper. Perhaps?

That would probably work, especially since you're not baking it or anything. :D

But I think the whole "schtick" is the "coolness" of using an ordniary milk carton (which are not so ordinary anymore, judging by the number of times people here have called it "milk container" instead of "milk carton"!)

Absolutely. It's a novelty recipe, intended to feature the milk carton. Container. Thingy. :D
