At least during WW II, the people were encouraged to keep up with the details of the conflict and why it should be supported rather than being told to go about your business and let the government run up the deficit, something generations from now will still have to deal with.
i shudder to think about that, to be honest...and it makes me so very sad...*sigh*
i often wish there was more that i could do (i got tear-gassed at the big protest down in Colorado Springs, CO back in March of 2003, and i've done some local activism, but i cant help but feeling discouraged. blar...)
One of the saddest things was seeing a U.S. soldier talk about having to scour local garbage dumps for material to armor up a vehicle. It depresses me that these people got into this career to defend their country from danger and do something noble, and they were sent right into this B.S. And when they get back Uncle Sam won't even bother to find them a good shrink.
