Anchors Away
Sep. 21st, 2019 10:16 amThe Anchor Inn opened in 1955. My grandfather, Nicholas Trofin, is your host. He was manager of this restaurant, and my grandmother was head hostess. My dad clearly remembers this opening; he was a busboy at the place. Phone: Whitehall 5-6730.

1967. My grandfather is the gentleman on the left with the pencil mustache. My father is on the right. I am being held by my great-grandfather. My grandfather was a chef at a number of locations in Windsor and Detroit, including at the Statler Hotel in Detroit. He was working at Marios Restaurant in Windsor when they became the first and only place in Windsor at the time to get some new-fangled food called pizza.
