Coming to a county fair, bar mitzvah, or VFW hall near you: JEFFERSON STARSHIP.

Worst band promo ever.

It was around the time of the album 'Freedom at Point Zero' - Grace Slick was pregnant at that point and had taken a break from the group.

That picture includes, from Left to right: Craig Chaquico, Pete Sears, David Freiberg, Paul Kantner, Aynsley Dunbar, and Mickey Thomas.

No Grace Slick.

The far right. Definitely the one on the right. Runner up is *behind* the person with the army jacket.

That was Jefferson Airplane, not JEfferson Starship. While it had some similar band members, it was not really the same band. Airplane was San Fran hippie/protest rock, while Starship was - well, let's put it nicely - "adult contemporary music and adult rock."

I would argue the ‘STARSHIP’ was the lame incarnation of the group and that ‘JEFFERSON STARSHIP’ was a great group (at times) and had quite a few awesome songs...

But I suppose STARSHIP ruined the perception of JEFFERSON STARSHIP enough that most people don’t recall that fact.

Well, yeah, I suppose you're right. Mostly, I just wonder why they went for the AOR and Adult Contemporary stuff when their 60s music was so impassioned. It's sad.

I actually recently saw the latest incarnation of this band at a local festival at a park here in Miami Township, Ohio so...your comment holds true.

RIP Airplane. :(
