This is odd -- I can't see any of them. But apparently everyone else can...

Firefox user, right? Disable AdBlock or just whitelist the comm. They should show up on refresh (that's what I did)

I wouldn't wear pearls when shopping! Seriously, were stores in the 50's filled with women wearing gloves and hats?

Did anyone else notice that that steak costs 3.05?

I sure hope she bought enough sheer cholesterol for that night's dinner...you don't want to run short...

Was this from Du Pont chemical company, maybe as an ad for the plastic wrap, or was Du Pont also a small grocery store or something?

I would say the plastic wrap and the white gloves are to show how great it is that she would hold it like that.

That's what I'd tend to think too, meanwhile I just read an article today about the dangers of eating food that's been wrapped in plastic. Apparently until 2002 migration from plastic to food was openly referred to by the FDA as "Indirect Food Additives," but they've since somewhat semantically concealed it by changing the term to "Food Contact Substances" eyeroll :)
(in case anyone's interested in that kind of thing):

Oh well if 'you are what you eat' then it figures the plasticizing of people got its real start in the 50s..
