vintageadsToday is Vietnam War Veteran's Day. America withdrew from Vietnam on this day in 1973. Vietnam was the last time the draft was used. Vietnam Veterans were treated atrociously by Americans, and by the government. Forced to serve in an unpopular war, there are Vietnam Veterans to this day who still struggle with physical and psychological problems caused by their service and receive no treatment by the government who sent them over there.
I'm probably close to breaking our 'no politicking' rule, but I think this is a non-partisan issue, not just one party. Vietnam is a shameful stain on American history, among the other shameful stains. As more and more Vietnam Veterans pass, the opportunity to atone is lost.
