Bad Gifts

Not the exact item, but it'll do. The only hobby craft I do is cross stitch and have been doing it over 30 years. I would like to learn to draw better, but not as a hobby or craft, I'd like to illustrate some things I've written. So, about 5 years ago someone gifted me a very expensive learn to watercolor paint kit. They said I needed a new hobby besides cross stitch and could I paint them some flowers? Uh??? I didn't want to be an ungrateful cur, but I'd never dream of taking it upon myself to select a new hobby for someone. Especially for one who never expressed dissatisfaction of their current hobby. I offered it back, so they could return it; but they insisted I try it and paint them flowers. Made it clear that wasn't going to happen, they didn't believe me. Gave it to a neighborhood kid who's in special art programs and has artistic talent. She loved it! And no, no flowers were painted for the giver.
