I bought a three-terabyte backup drive for under a hundred dollars. That's thirty thousand times the capacity for 1/35th of the cost. Never ceases to amaze me.

I only bought a computer in 2006, but there was earlier practice paying big bucks because how expensive VCRs were! In 1985 they were about $500 and tapes were maybe $4-7 each. The difficulty programming them was annoying, yet not nearly as annoying/disastrous as computer problems because VCRs were just for fun.
