....seems legit? Don't think this is still available, so it must not have been as easy to use a tampon and/or as accurate as a doctor doing the test. The things ya find online!

I'm gonna assume this ad is from the 1970s. $30 for an exam/test?! Wow! I visit to my D.O. for whatever is currently wrong with me, etc is $140 and that's just the visit! She once found a q-tip head in my ear canal (had no idea it was in there) and flushed it out. That was an extra $75 on the bill. No more q-tips in the ears, I'll stick with my pen cap for itchy ears! :)

My doctor always said never put anything in your ear other than your elbow. That was after I got a horrible ear infeaction from scratching the inside with a pen cap...

Yeah, when I told my doctor about the pen cap she said "don't do that!" but I said MY EAR CANAL ITCHES!!!! I've done it for 25+ years and look what a q-tip did! She just shook her head and told me to remain careful with my pen cap. Next time I saw her, I asked her if she had tried a pen cap and I could tell by the look on her face she had!

Ear infections are horrible! I, knock on wood, haven't had one in years--and they weren't pen cap related. I get airplane ear though when my allergies are bugging me---not as bad as an infection but annoying!

Is airplane ear like swimmer's ear? I get that a couple of times a year. That's when I get out the Debrox...

Dunno what swimmer's ear is; but airplane ear is when your ears feel 'full' and they feel like they need to 'pop' a la when you're on an airplane; but they do not. Never heard of Debrox.

Debrox dissolves earwax and helps clear up middle ear infections (i.e. "swimmer's ear"). Airplane ear is different; it sounds like a problem with the eustachian tubes (the ones that lead from the ears to the mouth or the throat). I'm not a doctor, but I play one on LiveJournal...

Hehehe, I have a pen cap too for my years! Apparently something called Debrox is supposed to do wonders for itchy years.

Never heard of Debrox; but pen cap in ears users unite!!! :D Why buy something when you have a pen cap? As I pointed out to my doctor, I always have pen caps with squared off ends---no points---and don't go dangerously deep into my ear. But when your ears are itchy, nothing is better than a pen cap, as far as I'm concerned! Now if I could set it up on a rotisserie method turning on it's own, that'd be great sometimes! :)

A rotisserie ear cleaner would be awesome. I never had itchy ears until I used in ear headphones. It's kimd of disturbing how gross those get.

The pen cap I have is from a Souffle pen - it has a rounded tip and just hits the spot :D

This ad makes me so scared for women who used it. An exam surely isn't a high point of one's day, but wow, the alternative if the results are positive *brrr*
