Not really rhetorical: Sweat itself is basically odorless. Body odor is caused by skin flora, bacteria that turn that sweat into nasty-smelling byproducts. Like most living things nowadays, those bacteria require oxygen - of which there is essentially zip in Martian air.
So technically, if you had an air supply yourself and were living in a warm enough environment that you weren't in a pressure suit anyway, you'd find that you wouldn't necessarily be unpopular if you skipped a shower now and then.
It seems odd that Kirk's would choose this whole idea for an ad campaign, since even back then it was believed that Mars was facing a serious water shortage, and soap might not be the first item on their shopping list!
