I'm not sure if this is legit.

Mods, why isn't there a "Western" tag?

I think the contents are well-known to be legit (or else the myth is so established that it's difficult to suss out if it's fake), but honestly the image itself looks modern to me. The text is a very modern typeface, reminds me of something developed in the early 20th century with all those geometric influences in design, plus the kerning and so on doesn't resemble typical 19th C. ads that we see at all.

The text is probably Futura of all things. I think that is from the 30s. The other typefaces look modern and the paper texture looks fake. Totally fake.

Yup, and the word "skinny" didn't come into regular use until the early 1900s

I agree, the content jives but the "WANTED" font is not as frilly as posters of the time (think of circus posters and "wanted" flyers).

It's as authentic as the TV show & movie "Peter Lundy and the Medicine Hat Stallion"
the story of a pretty boy (Leif Garrett) and his horse.

'Orphans preferred' is what got me. :)

Less suing by the relatives left behind, eh? ;)
