That little appliance in the coupon looks to me like the WaterPik™ my aunt Evelyn had in the 70s, and because she handed down all her Cosmo magazines to us, I actually thought her WaterPik™ was a douche appliance. (Which my 10-year-old brain couldn't really wrap itself around anyway.)
