I suspect it was a different Washington St: map (https://www.google.com/maps/place/296+Washington+St,+Boston,+MA+02111/@42.3572159,-71.0606913,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x89e370847ec176dd:0x5436e56613ec68b5).
Incredibly, there is more than one Washington Street in Boston - probably because their neighborhoods used to be separate towns. Google Maps finds 3 "296 Washington St, Boston, MA" addresses, only distinguishable by zip codes.
