Vintage Ads on Facebook

Our community's 'Keeper of the Tags', noluck_boston, kindly took over the Vintage Ads' facebook page when I finally decided "I quit this bitch" and permanently deleted my account (I haven't missed it one bit, which I found surprising, but it's been 3 weeks and nope, not one bit!).

ANYWAY, the Vintage Ads facebook page is still active, and can be found here. It's in very good hands with our Keeper of the Tags. I hope noluck is okay with me referring to them as that, because they ensure we are properly tagged. I'm a bad mod and rarely even tag my own ads :) They also fill in for me on those times I'm not around.

I share the FB feels. It just scares me. My account there is on 'hiatus' status because, hey, you never know when a job will require a FB account. I sometimes think our society is headed that way. :C

i found the 'permanently delete' button--which they make hard to find!!! a job requiring a FB account?! that sounds Orwellian!!

Aside from FB controlling what you saw---or didn't see---which was annoying as they hid most of my friends from my feed who I WANTED to see; then the 'top stories' I couldn't change out of; I stopped looking at my news feed; also US politics on FB just was horrible with all the attacking, etc and IT IS FACEBOOK PEOPLE!!! Then of course how evasive FB has become. I mean you go to non-FB sites and there you were LOGGED IN already, no way to turn that off. If you liked a post on a FB page, it goes into all of your friends' newsfeeds, why?? I thought of deleting mine since January and finally figured it was TIME!!! If people can't email me, phone me, send me a letter, or I am on LJ, and twitter, and ONLY will communicate via FB, then they weren't really a 'friend' in my opinion, ya know?

I was surprised I didn't miss it AT ALL. But not one bit!! If people can't email me, tweet (yes, I'm a twit ;), pick up a phone, write a letter--support the post office!!, follow my LJ/LJ message me, then what kind of 'friend' are they??

I don't know about Facebook, only because I sense businesses might choose LinkedIn or newer places. :/

LinkedIn has a more professional feel, true. I'm brave over there. FB and oddly enough, YouTube, have the weirdest trolls and stalkers who, well, I wouldn't want to face. It's weird how a discussion about music can devolve into mudslinging.

And yet YT when they made people who wanted to comment or upvote videos get a google+ claimed it would STOP trolls. ::cough::bullshit::cough:: I REFUSE to get a g+ account and I read they are gonna do away with the requirement on YT soon, so yeah!!! I won't even get a gmail account---they tried to make me get one for my YT and I refused. When I COULD comment on YT I didn't often, just occasionally, but yeah, they have trolls. Then and now!!

Some people just want to start crap with others unfortunately. We'll find that all over the 'net.

Never signed up, and hopefully never will. Even LJ takes up too much of my time as it is, and most of the friends from my old fandom days there have moved on.
