I loved Barney Miller!! I still have an old video capture on my computer of one of their Christmas episodes. I watch it every December. Such a brilliant series!

Then there's "Sanford and Son"

The theme was, according to the uploader, "Full version of Quincy Jones' - 'The Streetbeater' ---'70's junkyard funk at its finest."

I loved Barney Miller and one of the happiest times in life was when I got my own little TV for my room, because nobody liked sitcoms except me in the family.

Barney Miller was the best! Do you realize all the action takes place in one room?

That setting was masterfully done - no William Shatner as TJ Hooker shenanigans like when he would hang onto the hood of an escapee's car. There was some interview or other at the time with a cop's opinion that yes, Barney Miller showed police life as it actually was 98 per cent of their onduty time.

It was a favorite of mine too; one of our cable channels is running it right now.

I remember Roscoe Lee Browne as an escape artist - he'd originally been arrested for who knows what, but they'd added decades to his sentence for escaping again and again…  and somebody looks at the holding cell and says, “Whoa, where is he?!”

Just then we hear the men's room toilet flush…  Calm as you please, he emerges from the men's room and re-enters the cell and closes the hatch while they're all staring…
