Dick Maugg, known for his portrayal of Ed Jaymes in the Bartles & Jaymes wine cooler commercials of the 1980s, died of cancer on July 28 at the age of 83. (A formal announcement of his death was delayed as his family focused on his daughter's own fight with cancer; she passed away earlier this month.)

It tickles me to learn that he got the gig because he built the headquarters for the ad agency that created the campaign.

wow, that's really sad about him, his daughter and they lost a son to cancer to a month before his twin sons were born! DAMN!!!!
